Windows Vista is a version of Microsoft Windows released in January 2007. Epson is committed to supporting Vista and is continually developing Applications and Device drivers across our range of digital imaging products to comply with Microsoft's new global standards.
Vista supports many Epson products right out of the box, with drivers included with the operating system and available through Microsoft's Windows Update service. In addition to which we have released a range of driver updates which have been posted on our Support websites (depending on the product).
Models that were released after 1st June 2007 are supplied with a CD-ROM containing Vista-compatible driver/s and software, so they will work "out of the box". If your Epson product was not released after 1st June 2007, DO NOT INSERT YOUR EPSON PRODUCT SOFTWARE CD IN YOUR WINDOWS VISTA COMPUTER because the setup program is not compatible with Windows Vista.
If you already have ArcSoft PhotoImpression™ 5 installed on your Windows Vista computer, you may need to install a "patch" program. Go to the ArcSoft website to download and install the patch.
Please refer to the following tables to find out how your product will be supported.
Inbox drivers are supplied with the operating system and can be installed via the Windows Vista "Add a printer" wizard. There are two types of Inbox driver:
Inbox (M) drivers will provide most features that an Epson driver does and will allow you to monitor your ink levels.
Inbox (M) drivers include some familiar features such as a borderless (no margins) page layout setting, and various print quality, paper and page layout options.
ESC/P 2 drivers are Windows universal drivers (Unidrv). An ESC/P 2 driver offers printing functionality, but has limited print quality, paper, and page layout options and no ink level monitoring.
Drivers labelled Windows Update are not supplied with the operating system, but are available via the Microsoft Windows Update Service in Windows Vista.
Some All-In-One products are supported with a printer driver via Microsoft Windows Update, and supported with a Windows Vista version of Epson Scan which is available to download from the Epson support website.

Download and install the latest Windows Vista driver from the Epson website.
Drivers compatible with Windows Vista are available on the CD supplied with your product. The latest drivers can also be downloaded from the Epson website.
Products with no Vista support
If your product is not listed, it is not supported in Windows Vista and no drivers are available. You may be able to install the Windows XP driver. See below for more information.
To access Ink Monitor open Control Panel, and then Printers. The correct printer model will show in this window. Right-click on the printer and select Printing Preferences, then left-click the Ink Level button.

ESC/P 2 inbox drivers
These drivers allow basic print functions, but do not feature ink level monitoring and all print quality or paper options.
Products with no Vista support
Some models will not be supported by Windows Vista due to change in technology and low demand.
For older Epson printers, the Windows XP driver can be installed if a Windows Vista driver is not available from either the Epson website or from within Vista.

For very old printers, a Windows 2000/XP driver is not available and therefore the product cannot be used (e.g. Stylus Color 300).
The Status Monitor will not operate in Vista, therefore ink level and printer status monitoring is not available. For products that rely on Status Monitor for status, ink monitoring and ink cartridge replacement (e.g. the Stylus Color 480SXU and Color 580SXU), this is a significant problem. As a result, we only recommend using your product on specified supported operating systems where full driver support is available.
